Our Northern Vacation!

We have had a wonderful week in the north woods of Wisconsin and Minnesota. We spent last Saturday through Monday morning at my Mom's place near Rhinelander, WI. We call it 'Lescher Woods'. We had a fun time being outside, watching frogs, having a fire, and eating lots of good food! I had one of the best steaks I've had in years. Then again I don't usually eat steak unless I'm on vacation, so I didn't have much to compare it to! Either way, it was a fun time!

On Monday we drove up to Black Duck Lake, Minnesota. Andrew and Lindseigh met us there shortly after in the evening. The first few days were wet and chilly but it allowed me to get a lot of stuff done on the inside of the cabin. Tip of the iceberg, but at least it was something. Gavyn didn't mind the puddles and mud at all. The weather looked up towards the end of the week and we were able to do a good amount of kayaking, 6-wheeling, and exploring! John worked on the railing for the deck and Andrew and Tom helped later on. I am pretty impressed with what my husband can do! We originally did it for insurance purposes, but I am so glad it is there now. I'm not worried about Gavyn flying off the edge anymore. Not to mention some certain adult men that like to indulge in a beer or 10 or 20 on vacation!!

Gavyn really wanted to go swimming, but the water was just too cold. When we go back in July it'll be perfect! He got in a lot of adventures in the forest though, and had lots of fun with the dogs. We went on walks down the gravel road and he and Kolton played a lot. Kolton can sure get some good laughs out of Gavyn! We were also able to visit with my Aunt and Uncle, Dar and Jeff, who have a cabin next to us and were up for the week. Our good friend Linda also came up from Virginia to spend some time with us. She is great with the kids! The fishing wasn't too great, but being on the boat in the water in fun in itself. We had lots of good food and spent time with good people. Tom and I also started to do some cleaning and sorting. Its hard to imagine the large job we have in front of us!!

Oh and Gavyn taught himself how to whistle. So talented!
